ACC Shopee Cup™ 2025/26 Match Review M-5 | Selangor FC 1-1 BG Pathum United FC | Qualified for Semi-Finals

Selangor FC have advanced to the Semi-Finals of the ACC Shopee Cup™ 2025/26 after securing a point in a 1-1 draw against BG Pathum United FC yesterday.

The first half saw the Red Giants reduced to ten men after Alvin Fortes received a red card. Despite this setback, the team’s spirit remained unbroken. Selangor FC took the lead in the 36th minute when Faisal Halim calmly converted a smart assist from Chrigor Moraes.

The second half saw constant pressure from BG Pathum United FC, before Selangor inadvertently scored an own goal in the 64th minute to level the match at 1-1. Selangor held firm until the final whistle, securing qualification to the Shopee Cup semi-finals despite the draw. Having picked up nine points, the team secured second place in the group, narrowly behind Buriram United FC on goal difference.

According to Kim Pan-gon, Selangor FC’s Head Coach, he is proud of the mentality and team spirit displayed by his players.

“First of all, I am very proud of all the players and our supporters in yesterday’s match. BG Pathum United FC is a very strong team, but we prepared well and it paid off. Even playing with 10 men, the team showed great spirit, desire, and mental strength. They performed as true Red Giants, with exceptional team spirit. I am very proud of them. It was a truly fantastic and remarkable match,” said Kim Pan-gon.
